Art Exhibition «Art & Music»  Marton Barabas
Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Athens
 12nd – 22nd May

The first thing we think of when encountering the works of Marton Barabas is harmony. Yet at a closer look we discover vibrating tension in them, which fill the gallery with commotion. These works are neither paintings, nor sculptures in the strict sense of the term. They are three dimensional yet they do not protrude from the plane of the wall. Some of them on show are framed and even put behind a glass pane.  Thus kept in showcases those works appear to have been put into amber. They are sufficiently vivid to attract attention and yet they are emphatically motionless. They are frozen mobiles, piano parts, whose original function was to plunk piano strings.
