Cleaning of Public Areas
More than 100 successful clean ups have taken place at beaches and ports, in rivers, parks, streets and town squares, not only in Athens and Attica, but also in Thessaloniki.
The work of volunteers contributes tremendously to the work carried out by "Clean up Greece". The volunteer programmes include cleaning of public areas, tree planting, an integrated environmental action programme for children and youths.

 Tree Planting
In 1999 Clean Up Greece became involved in a major reforestation programme on Penteli Mountain, in collaboration with Attica Reforestation Directorate, and is repeatedly praised by the Directorate for its excellent work. Tree planting is carried out in November and February, while the planted areas are tended every April. Tree planting is also carried out in other areas of Greece in collaboration with companies who support the organisation. Tree planting is also supported by the Environmental Action Programme for Children and Youths.

Social Work Program
Within the same framework, in collaboration with personnel of supporting companies, Clean Up Greece organises social work days dedicated to public welfare activities in homes for the elderly, hospitals, orphanages. Moreover, organise days of cleaning the public areas and tree planting.
Clean up Greece recognises mankind as being of an integral part of the environment and, therefore, directs many of its activities according to this aim. Within this framework Clean up Greece maintains a social work programme throughout the year with the support of the volunteers. The work includes tree planting along streets, graffiti removal from buildings, recycling programmes by area, visits to public welfare institutions and a programme for children less privileged which includes reading of fairy tales, games, conversation and vital help with the schools lessons.

Annual Students' Conference
"Clean up Greece
" has established an Annual Student Conference for environmental issues. This offers to children and youths the opportunity to express their views and to actively participate in current environmental issues in Greece.  Approximately 350 participants aged between 10 and 18 from a variety of schools in Attica and qualified representatives of state and public institutions attend this important conference.  The event is open to the public and attracts both the attention of parents and teachers

Clean Up the World
The "Clean up the World Day" is an organisation, which began in Australia in 1989.  Since then it has spread throughout the world unifying more than 40 million people from 120 countries, in global clean up activity.
Clean up Greece, as the official representative in Greece of "Clean up the World", participates in the "Clean up the World Day" celebration. Clean ups of beaches, streets and town squares are organised each September with the participation of many volunteers.  Each year during the last three days of May, it participates in the "Clean up the Mediterranean" initiative of the Italian Environmental Organisation Legambiente, which organises the cleaning of beaches with the help of volunteers from 19 Mediterranean countries.

Eco Festival
5th May (Culture Day) – 5th July (Environmental Day)

«Clean up Greece» organised the first EcoFestival in 1999 having two major goals, firstly the role to demonstrate the importance of civilisation and the second one to propel sensibility and respect for the environment. The EcoFestival was started as an idea in which environment, art and civilisation are combined. The events of the EcoFestival are Art exhibitions, Trash Art, Concerts with a variety of music, Environmental theatre, and children/adult Environment Programmes, Conferences, Eco Film Festival e.t.c.

The innovative introduction of EcoFestival played an important role as a cultural event. This event strongly connects environment, art, music and human. The participation of students, citizens and other organisations is impressive and the idea of volunteering becomes a reality. We intend every year the EcoFestival to include more people as an event that joins environment with culture, and shows the relationship between the two.
